Before you book HR automatic truck training, check that you meet the current Western Australian requirements. Transport WA states that you must be at least 19, no longer hold a provisional licence, and have held one of the following:
A non-provisional C class car licence for at least two yearsAn LR (Light Rigid) licence for at least one yearAn MR (Medium Rigid) licence for at least one yearYou will also need to complete the required application, identity, eyesight and heavy vehicle theory steps before your PDA. Have the required non-provisional C, LR or MR licence history before starting the HR licence application and assessment process.
Take your current licence and any documents requested by Driver and Vehicle Services when you submit your heavy vehicle application.
Complete the commercial vehicle eyesight check and report any medical condition that may affect your ability to drive safely.
Prepare for the WA heavy vehicle theory test, which checks your understanding of heavy vehicle road rules and safe driving practice.

In WA, if you pass the PDA in a vehicle with an automatic transmission, your licence is issued with an automatic-transmission restriction. This means you can drive vehicles within the authorised class that have an automatic transmission, but you cannot drive a manual heavy vehicle until the relevant restriction is removed through the required assessment process. Choose automatic HR training when it matches your current vehicle access and work plans; choose a manual pathway if you need broader transmission access from the outset.
